(MarkDutchViewer's synopses)

Damian tells Holden that Luke doesn't want to see him. Holden accuses Damian of putting those thoughts into Luke's head. Meanwhile, Luke runs into Jade and admits that she was right -- he should have kept his mouth shut about being gay. Jade urges him to find Holden and talk it out. Ross, however, finds Holden first, and assures him that Damian had nothing to do with Luke's summer program. At the same time, Damian is telling Luke that Holden would rather Luke stayed with Damian.

Sorry peeps, I'm super duper busy with uni as the semester draws to a close so I don't have time to do in-depth recaps this week. Feel free to add your own to the comments if you're so inclined!

This week's clips continue along from last - Lily's still in a coma, Damian's still a schemer, Holden's still a douche, and Luke's still feeling guilty. I'll copy/paste MarkDutchViewer's synopses for you below. Enjoy!

Holden wants Jack to help him prove that Damian was behind Luke's attempted reprogramming. Meanwhile, Damian manipulates Luke to keep him away from Holden by convincing Luke that Holden blames him for Lily's accident. Later, Ross calls Damian with a threat. And Holden stops by to talk about his son.

"Stop blaming yourself."

Damian. Luke blames himself for everything, always. This is not the greatest advice. And here's Luke complaining to Damian of all people that she hired someone to take him to Camp Turn the Gay... Off! No, you are speaking to the wrong person. The person who wanted you to take you to the camp. Luke wants to speak to his mother about it but, of course, Damian stops him since he wants to ask Lily why she wanted to send him away.

Lucinda and Holden are by Lily's bedside and suddenly, they're wondering where Luke is. Oh, Holden gets it. Where did he spend the night? "With Damian." They make that sound a little scandalous but I won't go there.

Bob says Lily won't be coming out of the coma any time soon. Wah, wah, wah.

Lucinda asks Holden how she fell. Holden flashes back to Luke admitting that he pushed her. The man is even blaming Luke in his head but he won't say it to Lucinda.

Damian is successful stopping Luke and is trying to comfort him... but Luke won't stop digging about Camp Heterosexual. Luke tells him about Keith and how he saved his life so maybe she's trying to save him again in a different way. Damian mutters that he was trying to save him.

Luke sneaks out of the restaurant so he could go see Mommy! Before he goes in to see her, Holden stops him. He asks Luke what happened again. Holden argues there's no way Lily would send him to straight camp... and we will continue.

More Mommy Fell Down the Stairs, drama. )

Jack thinks that Damian's cray cray and you know what, Jack? You're right! He's blaming Holden for falling down on the job. You know, that part where fathers are supposed to teach their sons to be straight... or something. Oh, Holden. You're the father of the year. He says that hearing words that he was thinking coming out of Lily's mouth, that he needed to be there for Luke. Pat on the back!

Meanwhile, Lily's convincing Damian that Luke does not need to be fixed. Well, yeah. We've established that Damian's on Team Nutsy Cuckoo. Lily has seen the error of her ways(ish) but Damian's suggestion is enough to push her to the side of right so that she can help Luke.

Someone's convincing Luke that Turn Off the Gay Camp is just like every other camp! You go horseback riding, you go swimming... you just gotta do it and turn into a heterosexual. Like those Mormons from Book of Mormon say, turn off those gay feelings, Luke!

... Luke immediately calls Good Dad to come rescue him.

Instead, it's Lily to the rescue! She shoves the counselor out the door. Lily's convincing Luke to COME DOWN THE STAIRS and I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. There's just a lot of emphasis on COMING DOWN THE STAIRS.

Oh, and there goes Lily up the stairs... and right back down again. Tumbling down. Damian rushes to her side because he saw the whole thing. Sigh, of course he did.

COME DOWN THE STAIRS, LUKE. )

Hi, hi, hi! I am sorry for the late deliver of today's instalment of the Luke Snyder Marathon. It all started this morning when I woke up and said, "Oh, shit, I forgot to do the Luke Marathon! And, dammit, I have a migraine! And, besides, this is writing time, and the next book won't write itself while I'm typing up things about Luke Snyder, so chop-chop, Migraine Girl!" And chop-chop I did. Sometimes migraine-writing is awesome, and sometimes it's very wtf, but only time will tell. Regardless, write I did!

Then kiddo arrived home from school, and despite my migraine I took her on a walk around the neighborhood, went on the swings at the park, and then came on back to water the front garden.

Then hubby showed up while we were gardening, and, "Hey there, honey, two friends are coming this weekend to stay! They'll be here at 3pm tomorrow!"

WAIT, WHAT????

Cue massive freak-out/cleaning/rushing around getting beds ready, accumulating, cleaning bathrooms, etc, etc, because I've been in book-mode for around a week, and before that was out of town in NYC for a trip, and before that was sick or something, I don't know, or maybe in previous-book-mode. Regardless, yikes! House was a disastah!

And I only just now -- just now -- at almost 11pm ate dinner. Oh, and somewhere in there kiddo declared her stomach in pain, vomited into a bucket, declared herself feeling better, and is now asleep. Current hypothesis is that her allergies which are wretched led her to gag on her own snot and puke. God, I hope so. We have house guests tomorrow, ffs.

ANYWAY. SORRY THE LUKE MARATHON IS LATE. IT IS HERE NOW! Let's start!

Lily introduces Luke to Ross the Creepy Deprogrammer. It doesn't go well. Luke says if she wants him to go, then he'll leave, and so he goes to pack his stuff and is going to Grandma Lucinda's. <3 Ross and Damian plot on the phone to get Luke to go to the 'camp'. Damian says, "I want my son straightened out by the end of this summer." Lily convinces Luke to talk to the "Ross person" as he puts it. Lily is happy with that. Lucinda runs into Damian and they spar adorably. She declares that she will see Damian in his grave before she lets him harm another member of her family. Spoiler alert: SHE FAILS AT THIS.

Luke deals with more horrible parenting behind the cut! )

Holden punches Damian. Luke doesn't want his daddies fighting. Then there is a scene with Lily talking to...someone? I have no idea who. And I have a horrible case of the Mondays and can't be arsed to find out. Then back to Holden and Damian and Luke, and Luke leaves with Holden. Damian calls Lily to tell her that Holden is a problem in their mutual goal of 'fixing' Luke. Later, Luke and Holden talk about Damian, too. I just want to say that Luke is looking super adorable and fine in this episode. So pretty. So, so, so pretty. Damian and Lily plot more.

Soapclassics.com has just released the Farewell to Oakdale DVD set, with the last ten episodes of the show, obviously including Reid's death. You can buy the set for $19.99, and for $5 more you can also get a copy of the script for the September 14, 2010 episode (which is -not- a Luke or LuRe episode, unfortunately).

Damian has a reunion with Lisa and, meanwhile, Luke continues to get all up in Lily's face about her failure to accept him as he is, basically telling her he knows she'd rather have him be miserable and "straight" than happy and gay. And Lily continues to be flaky; after she previously told Damian she wanted to talk to Holden before considering accepting his help, she makes one halfhearted attempt to call Holden on the phone before rushing off to tell Damian she will accept his help after all.

More behind the cut )

Luke flips his lid that Damian is there and has been following him. He understandably snarks at Bad Dad, who assures Luke that all the Grimaldi nonsense that forced him into hiding is over and that he's back to be a part of Luke's life. Luke is unimpressed and accuses Lily of bringing Damian back to try and "fix" him. Damian wonders WTF is going on and Lily finally spits out that Luke "thinks that he's gay." Lily, Lily, Lily. He IS gay, Bad Mom.

Grimaldi drama in the hizzouse )

Enter Damian! Oh, Bad Dad. How I missed you, even though your hair is a little Eurotrash right now. Lily bitches Damian out for various transgressions, and realizes it was Damian following Luke and his striped shirts around Oakdale. Meanwhile, Luke vents to Lucinda about Lily's lameness regarding teh gay. He says Lily thinks he's ruining her "perfect" family and life with Holden. Yes, because Lily and Holden have had a drama-free courtship and marriage(s).

Lily tells Damian that it's a "confusing time" for Luke while skirting around the actual issue. Damian insists that he is Luke's father (come to the dark side, Luke! Use the power of the force!) and he wants to know what's the what.

We pick back up at the library with Luke and Jade again today. Jade's still in a snit about Luke breaking their deal and coming out instead of pretending he was into her lady bits. This tune is getting olllld, Jade. Will and Luke start to talk but Luke thinks Jade's eavesdropping, so they head out. Back at the house, Holden's questioning whether he should go on his trip while things are so tense between Luke and Lily.

Will and Luke are at the pond? They're on a pier, anyway, and talking about Luke's gayness when there's a rustling in the bushes. Someone's spying on them! Dun dun duh!

We pick right back up with Lucinda and Lily today, with Lily still being a douche while Lucinda is proving to be made of win, no surprise! Luke shows up and Lucinda calls him fabulous and hugs him, n'aww! After she leaves Luke calls Lily out and says she can't hug him, or talk to him, or even look at him. Poor bb Luke! :(

When will Luke's teen angst end?!?! )

12 April 2012 @ 03:10 pm

Sorry so late! Tis the season to be ill and unable to go to work for three days. :| Thanks to [info]rhiannonhero for covering me for the last one. Thanks, bb! And now let's continue. Last we left them, Lily was vying for Mommy of the Year. She... wasn't doing so well with Luke's Big Gay Outing.

We start with Lily looking at many baby pictures of Luke, remembering the good old days when he wasn't gay. Lily and Holden talk about Luke's gayness. Holden becomes the poster father of PFLAG by telling Lily what they need to do to comfort Luke at this time.

Enter Luke after he hears his mother ask what they did wrong... to make him gay? He's angry and yet somehow Lily is trying to turn this around on him by blaming him for the decisions he made while trying to figure out how to tell them that he was gay. Sigh, Lily.

Lily continues by saying he should "keep himself open to other possibilities." Oh, Lord. She thinks that he's just confused about this whole gay thing. While Luke's sticking it to her by telling her he is who he is. Go, Luke! You tell 'em.

Luke's not understanding why this is so difficult for Lily to accept. Luke says that if they can't accept him then he's going to leave. He doesn't want to see pity in their eyes and then he leaves.

They accept that it was difficult for Luke to tell them and Holden continues speaking on behalf of PFLAG, saying that they have to keep telling him that they love him and that they gave him the tools to make good decisions and that's what they have to do as parents. Aww, well, I'm glad that you have your head on straight.

ZOMG! We had a total Luke Marathon Fail, y'all! I blame the long weekend, and a co-mod's illness, and just plan mental fog and confusion, because we are only human, people! Uh, not that any of you even noticed, probably, but whatevs; we are moving along.

So, Luke told Holden and the Lilster that he was gay! What do you think will happen now? I know you are on the edge of your seat! Let's see what happens next.

Luke: I'm sorry, Mom. I'm so sorry.

:( These words can sum up Luke entirely. This is why he stayed with that jerk Noah so long. He blames himself for everything. Even being gay. Oh, baby.

Lily: You're gay?
Luke: Yeah.
*SILENCE FROM PARENTS OF THE YEAR*
Luke: Please say something.
*MOTHER OF THE YEAR STARES AT LUKE, AND THEN TURNS AND WALKS AWAY A BIT*
Holden: I think your mother just needs a little time.

Holden, do you know what would've given her some time? Oh, if you'd, you know, shared your concerns with her ages ago.

Luke rants about how he can't keep it in any longer, and how he'd been so afraid of seeing that look on Lily's face, and then he says, "She doesn't have to say a word. I know she hates me."

Lily, in her ongoing role as Best Mother Ever, just stares at him and then turns and walks away.

*

The next scene has Luke begging Lily to talk to him, and when she finally does talk, she takes the tack that since Luke's never had sex with a girl then he has no experience to base his 'gayness' on. Heh. 'Cause I don't know about you, but I had to have loads of sex with other girls in order to confirm that I was totally straight. OH WAIT. She then goes on to say that Luke's too young to know what he wants. And, sure, when I was 14 and hot for boys, hell, when I was 5 and crushing massively on Apollo on the old skool BSG, I was too young to know that I thought boys were the bomb, and just needed to sleep with some girls to figure it out. OHHHH WAAAAIIIT.

Holden is the voice of reason, but at the moment I sort of feel like it's too much, too little, too late (to ever try agaiiiin! let's end it being frieeeends!) and think he shouldn't have let this fall so hard on Lily. He suspected! He should've said something!

Lily: I'm not angry! I'm so sad. For you.

:(

Lily: I look at you and see my seven year old boy running around the house. You used to tell me everything...about school, about your friends. You used to tell me all your secrets.

Luke (angry): Mom, don't make this about you.

*high five*

Lily: This is about me! It's about me, and your father, and your sisters. It's about our family!
Luke: No, Mom. It's about ME. And MY LIFE.
Holden: He's right.
Lily: So you're just willing to accept this?
Holden: He's our son. This is who he is. And...uh...we need to respect that truth.

Jade shows up and Lily takes her anger out on her. Lily sucks sometimes. SO HARD.

Jade declares that Holden practically begged her to make Luke straight and that Holden is the biggest liar in the room.

There's more of poor Luke's gay teenaged angst behind the cut! Don't miss it! )

05 April 2012 @ 12:47 pm
Yes, today Luke comes out to his parents. \o/

But before we get to that, guys, [info]mech_bull brought up this video in a thread elsewhere, and I watched it again, and holy moses I LOVE THEM SO MUCH IT HURTS MY HEART AND I WILL BURST WITH JOY.

Important points to take away from this vid:

a) Luke is not Noah. He'd never be an ass and marry Ameera or jerk Noah around about whether or not he loved him.

b) Reid is my hero forever for making Luke happy and making him smile like that. <3

Okay, uh, so back to Luke coming out, which is, of course, very important and sort of seminal in the show. Seminal. Uh. Is that right? Is that to do with semen? I have a migraine, so...let's check up on this word.

sem·i·nal/ˈsemənl/
Adjective:

1. (of a work, event, moment, or figure) Strongly influencing later developments.
2. Of, relating to, or denoting semen.

Okay, then, right word, and all about semen, too, which is, you know, related to Luke being gay, because of where he wants to put his semen. WHAT??? Have you read my stories? I'm a perv and sex is what I think about most of the time when it comes to Luke (and Reid).

Focus...focus, Rhi.

Emma shows up with food and asks Holden why he doesn't make Jade leave, and Holden says that Luke's in love with her. Heh. Cut to Luke telling Jade that he's going to tell his folks that he's gay. Luke says that his parents love him as much as they love each other and that he hasn't been giving them enough of a chance.

Emma tells Holden that Luke won't leave with Jade because he's a mama's boy. (Got that pegged, Emma! He sho' nuff is!) Emma suggests that Holden have a 'real conversation' with Luke, and Holden makes excuses about why he hasn't had 'time' to talk to Luke. Heh. And Emma says, "Don't assume this girl is the love of his life. He may surprise you." Holden doesn't look thrilled with that prospect.

Jade asks for some time before Luke tells his folks. Luke asks how much time, and Jade asks for one day, and Luke says she has one hour because he has to do it right now before he chickens out. Jade calls Holden for help with Luke, and tells him that Luke broke up with her, and said they weren't even friends. Jade is creepy and basically implies that she's in love with Holden and doesn't want to go. *shudders* Just skip that part.

Luke shows up at home, calling for his folks. Faith shows up and they have a freaking adorable conversation. HEARTS IN MY EYES.

Faith: You look sick.
Luke: No, I'm fine. I need to tell Mom and Dad something.
Faith: Did you do something bad?
Luke: No. I thought it was bad, but it's not.
Faith: You can tell me.
Luke: *bumps her shoulder* I know, that's why you're one of my favorite sisters.

I LOVE YOU LUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Faith: Are you scared to tell Mommy and Daddy?
Luke: Kind of.
Faith: It's okay, Luke. They'll always love you.

I LOVE YOU FAITH!!!!! (Why do you grow up so obnoxious? :( )

The next scene has Faith and Luke playing a game together, Faith wins, and she asks to play again, and Luke calls her "Faithy" and I LOVE when he does that. <3 Skip the end of the vid after that because it's all Holden and Jade, ugh.

LUKE COMES OUT TO HIS PARENTS BEHIND THE CUT!!!!! )

Jade comes by with the clothes that Natalie and Faith apparently left at Jade's apartment while Lily was in the hospital. Luke is angry that she's there, and says, "Jade, my mom just got out of the hospital! Have a little respect okay?" I loved his delivery there, reminded me of his scoldings of Reid in the past. It made me happy just to hear that tone of voice for some reason, and I could imagine Reid going all wide-eyed and confused in response. *sigh* Oh, I miss them. I really and truly miss them so much. Oh, and here comes the anger about how it all 'ended' and la la la la I can't hear you brain! Back to this clip!

Lily comes downstairs and wants to know what they are fighting about, and Luke says, "Mom, please just go back to bed." Aw, he's always looking out for other people.

Now I'm imagining a scenario where Luke and Reid are fighting, and his mom, who is totally pregnant again with...hmm, I guess Holden's baby, though it would be more fun if it was Damian's baby somehow...comes down and wants to know why Luke and Reid are arguing, and Luke tells her to go back to bed, and Reid's all, "No, I think she should know. She can handle it."

And Luke's like, "Reid!"

And Reid says, "Your son has some news he needs to break to you."

Luke's all, "REID!"

Reid says, "We're moving to Los Angeles."

"Temporarily!" Luke breaks in.

"For at least a year."

"What?" Lily asks, astonished and holding her big belly.

"Reid got offered a position that he just can't turn down. It's just a temporary thing, though. And...I might stay here."

"The hell you will!" Reid exclaims.

"Mom, go back to bed. Everything's fine. You need to rest...the baby....."

And of course Lily doesn't go back to bed, and it takes three episodes, maybe ten, to resolve the conflict.

Oh, uh, wait...sorry, let me get back to the actual clip, boring though it may be. God, I miss Reid.

Jade actually says something really important to Lily, and kind of awesome in the scheme of things: If you think it's okay to make him feel like he can't love somebody unless you approve, then you're the one with the problem.

Jade leaves in a huff, and Lily asks Luke if he thinks that's true. Does Luke think that Lily doesn't want him to be happy? Lily said, "I don't like her. She hurt me when she lied about being Rose's daughter, but I will forget all of that if she makes you happy. But I don't think that she does."

*heart clench* Oh, Lily, actually being a decent mom for a change.

So, now I'm thinking of how she was with Reid and how she really did just want Luke to be happy. She expressed her misgivings, but then seemed to stand out of the way when she saw that, for whatever reason, Reid made her son light up like Times Square. She might not have understood it, but she saw that Luke was happy, and she sees here that Luke is not happy with Jade. That is truefax.

Lily asks Luke if Jade really makes him happy, and when he says yes, Lily says she's going to try hard to be nicer to Jade because she loves him. Then she kisses his cheek and leaves red lipstick marks. LOL! And Luke looks super conflicted. Oh, woobie Luke! I love you!!!

Luke and Jade fight outside of Java, and Luke gets vicious the way that he can, and, damn, I love it.

Luke: You know, it doesn't surprise me that you're all alone, because you have no idea how to treat other people, and that's what being a family is all about. Other people.

Uh, sound familiar? I swear, the way he talks to Jade really reminds me of some of the best Luke/Reid interactions. I wonder...if Jade had been a hot dude instead of a hot chick, would Luke have fallen for her? Is there some AU fic out there where Jade is actually some guy instead? And Luke loses his virginity to him? Possibly before ascertaining that they aren't cousins? *shifty eyes* WHAT????? Have you read my stories? I'm perverted. Doncha know?

Jade says that she thought family was the one place you could be yourself and tell the truth about who you are and still be accepted. Hahahaaaaa!!!! Oh, Jade, clearly you really have never been part of a family, because that couldn't be farther from reality!

Will is watching Jade and Luke argue from the window of Java. Luke says he shouldn't just told his parents he's gay and trusted them. Jade tells Luke not to come out to his parents because he should do like he said and think about other people first. Then she leaves and Will comes out to talk to Luke.

As Luke and Jade continue their charade, Lily can barely choke down her dislike of the conniving young woman. We feel you, Lily! Of course Holden is clinging to the notion that Luke is "crazy about" Jade. Dream on, Holden. Dream on. Lily continues to suffer Jade's presence because she doesn't want Luke to get sick again. Jade and Luke go to the opening of hot new club Crash, which must have closed down when the show scrapped 90% of its sets for spare lumber.

While Jade tries to get Luke to be more coupley, Will (yay!) and Maddie (yay!!) watch and wonder what the deal with Jade is. Believe me, guys, you do NOT want to know.
